One minute you’re planning for a baby, the next minute you’re allegedly getting kicked out while pregnant. Then somehow you’re posting adorable newborn photos on Instagram while the internet tries to figure out what happened. That brings us to influencer Lyss Okada and Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle Fred Johnson.
Over the weekend, Lyss announced the birth of her child with a heartwarming Instagram post. Fans flooded the comments with congratulations, support, and enough baby emojis to crash a smartphone.
The happy moment arrives just weeks after allegations surfaced that Fred Johnson kicked Lyss out of his home while she was pregnant.
‘Akira Jade,’ read the caption alongside a series of photos of Okada holding the young girl.
Okada followed with a TikTok video in which she’s seen holding Akira and speaking to the camera: ‘The minute I met my daughter – I can’t even believe I’m even saying the words, “my daughter” – I was so in love with her, and she’s just perfect.’
The posts were a dramatic departure from the TikTok videos she shared earlier this spring in which she seemingly accused Johnson of kicking her out of their home and pursuing other relationships online.
‘Hypothetically, if a man were to kick out his eight-month pregnant girlfriend and unborn daughter and be on Hinge the very next day looking for women to have fun with, hypothetically you would not think that man is a good man or good father,’ she said in a lengthy video in early May.
‘You would not think that man would have any form of decency, integrity or have morals if, hypothetically, those situations were true, those would be some sh***y f***ing people, in my opinion.”
Johnson initially responded on Instagram, writing the ‘smartest flex isn’t revenge,’ before following with an even more cryptic post.
‘God ain’t bring me this far just to leave me,’ the 28-year-old NFL journeyman wrote on Instagram. ‘This to (sic) shall pass. I love you all.’
Okada has also been attacked over her erstwhile relationship with Johnson, leading her to respond to that criticism in another May TikTok video.
A newborn arrives, and somehow people are still debating relationship drama from weeks ago.
‘I just truly think it’s time people stop blaming women for the partners they choose,’ she said. ‘And start blaming partners for pretending to be something that they are not.
‘What I’ve realized is there are so many people quick to say ‘what did you do’ or ‘you knew what you were getting yourself into.’ That is not true.
‘No woman ever knowingly goes into a situation thinking this person is going to hurt me, this person is going to lie to me, this person is going to be a completely different person to the one he is showing me.’
And while the adults figure everything else out, the baby has successfully accomplished the most important task of all: becoming the only person in this story who isn’t generating internet drama.
