Chet Holmgren and Victor Wembanyama squared up for the third time during the regular season, and social media chimed in on the rivalry.
The Oklahoma City Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs squared off in the third regular-season game of the season on Thursday. Victor Wembanyama and Chet Holmgren, the front-runners for Rookie of the Year, were up against each other.
Both rookie superstars gave the NBA World a memorable evening. Holmgren dominated the first half, and the Spurs won their 12th game of the season thanks to a Wembanyama comeback in the fourth quarter.
Wembanyama and Chet gets fans hyped
This young San Antonio Spurs team finished the fourth quarter with a 16-5 run to seal the victory after overcoming a 20-6 Thunder outburst.
Wembanyama concluded with an incredible five blocks, two rebounds, seven assists, and a total of 28 points and 13 rebounds. The NBA’s worst 3-point shooting club shot the three-point ball at a 48 percent clip in this game thanks to an unusual 5-for-7 shooting performance from beyond the arc. Holmgren shot 66 percent from the field and finished with 23 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and a block.
Social media went into a frenzy as the two big men of the generation sparred.
Victor Wembanyama gets the 12th win of his NBA career — and I’d imagine this is his favorite.

If there is a single Wemby/Chet game not nationally-televised next year, NBA has failed us. They have an *anthology* of battles already, dating back to the Summer. And they’re only rookies. They also match their mutual respect with desire to whoop ass and be king of the monsters.
