As NFL quarterback Patrick Mahomes arrives in Las Vegas for Super Bowl Week, where his Kansas City Chiefs will play the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, this was supposed to be a time of celebration for the Mahomes family and for some of the most well-known members of their fan base, including Taylor Swift and Patrick Mahomes Sr.
The quarterback’s father, Patrick Mahomes Sr., has been charged with DUI in Texas after being booked three times for the same offense. This is a concerning development.
Patrick Mahomes’s father could face up to 10 years
Mahomes Sr. may spend two to ten years behind bars if found guilty. Patrick Mahomes Sr. was arrested in Smith County on Saturday and charged with DWI, according to arrest records. This arrest marks the elder Mahomes’ latest in a string of run-ins with the law about alcohol and driving.
Among those instances was when he was given a 40-day prison sentence after being charged with his second DWI in 2018. During the weekends from February 2019 to February 2020, he worked those days.
Following his arrest by the Tyler Police Department, 53-year-old Mahomes Sr. saw his mugshot and bond amount announced on the Smith County jail records webpage.
Mahomes Sr., a former Major League Baseball pitcher, was released on Sunday based on those records.
Mahomes Sr., the entertainment mogul Swift, and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce’s girlfriend have both been seen at many Chiefs games and in images with their sons and other players.
