Jay Harbaugh is expected to join his father Jim Harbaugh on the Los Angeles Chargers bench. The younger Harbaugh is currently finishing off his last week with Michigan, sources tell Aaron McMann of M Live.
After spending three seasons as a member of his uncle John Harbaugh’s staff with the Baltimore Ravens, Jay came to Michigan in 2015 to work with his father. He started out as the Wolverines’ tight end coach and assistant special teams coach.
As expected, #Michigan STC Jay Harbaugh is following his father, Jim, to the Los Angeles Chargers. This will be his final week in Ann Arbor, sources say.

In 2017, after serving at this position for two years, Harbaugh was appointed as the team’s special teams and running backs coach.
After that , In 2021, he moved on to become the tight ends and special teams coach at Michigan. In 2022, he continued to teach the special teams for the team and also assumed the role of safeties coach.
Serving under the Harbaughs, Michigan had an incredible run that included two Big Ten Conference championships, three straight berths in the College Football Playoffs, and this past season’s College Football Playoff National Championship. The Wolverines had not won a championship in 26 seasons.
