The San Francisco 49ers scored a field goal on their opening possession of the extra frame, meaning Mahomes and the Chiefs now just needed a touchdown to repeat as Super Bowl champions.
The good folks from “Inside the NFL” perfectly caught Mahomes’ final play call that wound up being a three-yard walk-off touchdown pass to Mecole Hardman:
“Hey, let’s go trips right bunch “F” shuttle,” Mahomes screams. “Tom and Jerry right yellow. Orange, orange, orange, orange! Let’s go!”
Mahomes finished the day 34-of-46 for 333 passing yards and two touchdowns against one interception to go along with a team-leading 66 rushing yards on nine carries en route to Super Bowl MVP honors.
With the victory, the Chiefs became the first team to win consecutive Super Bowl championships since the 2003 and ’04 New England Patriots. They also cemented themselves as a dynasty by winning a third Lombardi Trophy in just five years.
Congratulations once again to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs for beating the San Francisco 49ers and winning the Super Bowl LVIII.
