As 2024 NFL free agency approaches, six teams are reportedly interested in signing star running back Saquon Barkley of the New York Giants.
After six seasons with the Giants, the 2018 Offensive Rookie of the Year will make his first trip into free agency, barring any last-minute shocks. The free agency window for this year will open on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. EST.
The New York Daily News‘ Pat Leonard reports that 6 teams are cited as the 27-year-old’s “primary” suitors: The Philadelphia Eagles, New England Patriots, Chicago Bears, Houston Texans, Las Vegas Raiders, and Baltimore Ravens are the following teams:
“Sources view the Baltimore Ravens, Las Vegas Raiders, Chicago Bears, New England Patriots, Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles as some primary potential suitors who have the resources, need and interest to possibly sign Barkley.”
Clubs in hunt for a Running Back
After free agency opens, the clubs Leonard mentioned—aside from the Bears with Khalil Herbert and the Patriots with Rhamondre Stevenson—may need to find a new starting running back.
Gus Edwards and J.K. Dobbins, Baltimore’s top two running backs, are unrestricted free agents. Likewise, for Josh Jacobs of Las Vegas, D’Andre Swift of Philadelphia, and Devin Singletary of the Texans, the 2022 rushing champion.

Barkley has only participated in 16 games within a season twice (in the 2022 season and during his debut year of 2018). Despite his lengthy history of injuries, the No. 2 pick in 2018 is a phenomenal game-changer when he gets the ball in his hands.
