After LeBron James scored more than 40,000 points, it didn’t take long for Skip Bayless to disparage him and declare that Michael Jordan had a more impressive basketball career resume. The analyst asserted that many have forgotten about Jordan’s records in a post on X (previously Twitter).
Comparing the resumes of LeBron James and Jordan side by side on social media, Bayless claimed that Jordan’s career had more awards.
Shortly after breaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record to become the league’s all-time leading scorer, “The King” made history on Saturday by becoming the first NBA player to surpass 40,000 points.
Michael Jordan led the NBA in scoring 10 times — to just once for LeBron James. MJ also won a Defensive Player of the Year — LeBron none. MJ: 6-0 in Finals with 6 MVPs. LeBron has as many Finals losses as MJ had wins. But who remembers any of that tonight?

LeBron has numerous skills, but his longevity is one of the most impressive. Even at twenty-one, he is a formidable opponent, averaging 25.3 points, 7.9 assists, and 7.1 rebounds per game this year.
Over the course of his 15-season career, Jordan averaged 30.1 points, 5.3 assists, and 6.2 rebounds per game.
Celtics Superstars assert that LeBron James has had a bigger influence than Michael Jordan
Legendary Boston Celtics players Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce voiced their admiration for LeBron James’ longevity in December. Garnett even went so far as to say that Michael Jordan was never as strong and influential as LeBron James is now.
LeBron’s investment in himself over the years is paying dividends now.@KevinGarnett5KG respects the power King James has built up. 🤣

Garnett said,
“Michael Jordan had it, he never had it like this.[LeBron] can probably stop the war right now … That’s how strong Bron is right now,”
Pierce, meanwhile, stated that supporters shouldn’t undervalue LeBron’s importance. He stated,
“Think about this: He in his 21st year. He can make 25 years,” he said. “There’s gonna be more players that’s gonna be playing because as we as athletes evolve, we getting stronger, better, longer.”
Garnett stated that James’ actions were expected considering his substantial commitment to his performance.
“I’m not shocked at anything. He’s invested in this and I’ve actually expected him to look something like this,” he said. “And then you know what he’s doing too? He’s putting the precedent; he’s putting the pressure on the KDs, and everybody else because they gotta follow this.”
LeBron James and Vince Carter are the only other players with careers that have lasted 21 seasons or more. With 22 seasons of league play under his belt, he now holds the record.
