We analyze the Jayson Tatum vs. Luka Doncic “debate” and relive the Dallas Mavericks‘ lopsided loss to the Boston Celtics.
It was the Dallas Mavericks’ third game in four nights, and they had a difficult challenge on Friday night when they traveled to play the league-leading Boston Celtics. The Mavs put up a strong fight for three quarters, but they were unable to keep up with the Celtics’ efficient 3-point shooting and fell 138-110 in a blowout.
Superstar Luka Doncic put out a tremendous effort for the Mavs, even though they lost the game despite his 37-point, 12-rebound, 11-assist triple-double while shooting 14–25 from the floor in 37 minutes.
The MVP top-five has included Boston Celtics standout Jayson Tatum almost the entire season. Tatum shot 10-19 from the field but finished with 32 points, eight rebounds, and three assists.
The Mavs star isn’t worried about the frequent and intense arguments between the fan groups of each team over who is a better player—Doncic or Tatum. Despite the similarities made, Doncic says he and Tatum have a great deal of respect for one another.
About Tatum, Doncic stated:
“He’s a great guy,” “We both have a lot of respect for each other, which is amazing. … I don’t know [about the MVP talk]. I think that’s for the media. They have the votes, so I don’t know.”
