Mecole Hardman, an experienced wide receiver, has spoken up over the speculation that he provided the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs with the gameplans from the New York Jets for the 2023 season.
In a post on Friday, Hardman promised to “never leak gameplans to another team” on X:

Hardman played his first five seasons of professional football with the Chiefs before joining the Jets for the 2023 season. In October, he was dealt back to Kansas City and went on to win his third Super Bowl championship.
The 25-year-old caused a stir on The Pivot Podcast earlier this week when he revealed that, prior to being transferred, he was “checked out” with Gang Green and that he had told the Chiefs to “come get me.”

Although Hardman later clarified on X that he “never had talks with KC before the trade,” some of his other remarks, such as expressing his displeasure at not getting more playing time in New York, offended some Jets fans.

Subsequently, in a since-deleted post, Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner accused wide receiver Mecole Hardman of leaking the team’s offensive gameplan to the Eagles. Connor Hughes of SNY reported that “the #Jets validated belief that WR Mecole Hardman, frustrated by his lack of usage, leaked game plans to the opposition, as implied by several players.”
Hughes went on to say that the Jets thought Hardman had also given the Chiefs gameplan leaks. Notably, the Jets stunned the Eagles in their Week 6 encounter and came dangerously close to defeating the Chiefs in Week 4, losing 23-20 in what was Zach Wilson’s greatest performance of the year.
Before being traded to the Chiefs, Hardman played in just five games for the Jets. Hardman played in just five Jets games before to being acquired by the Chiefs. In addition to returning punts until rookie Xavier Gipson took over, he caught one pass for six yards.
