Mike Evans, a Star Wide Receiver With the Bucs, Talks Free Agency Plans

Mike Evans in action

Mike Evans‘ legendary 10-year tenure with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers appears to be coming to an end.

When the market formally opens on March 13, Evans intends to join free agency, according to a report from Dianna Russini of The Athletic. Although Russsini said that contract negotiations are still ongoing, Evans wants to “examine his options.”

Although Evans’ time with the one NFL organization he has ever known doesn’t officially end with this, Russini pointed out that the fact he intends to hit free agency speaks volumes. It’s obvious that the Bucs won’t agree to his requested price.

Everyone’s after Mike Evans

Evans’ longevity and consistency will make him one of the most sought-after free agents when the market opens. In spite of Tom Brady‘s retirement in 2023, he will once again post outstanding numbers as a receiver with 1,000 yards in each of his ten NFL seasons.

Baker Mayfield in action

Baker Mayfield had a breakout year, grabbing 79 receptions for 1,255 yards and a league-high 13 touchdown grabs, thanks in large part to the five-time Pro Bowler. Evans’ best yardage total since 2018 was 1,255, as he had 1,321.

Evans, who turns 31 in a few months, has racked up 762 receptions for 11,680 yards and 94 touchdowns in his career. Only DeAndre Hopkins and Julio Jones have more career receiving yards than the future Hall of Famer among active players.
