On the Mavs 3-Pointers Made List, Luka Doncic Moves up to Second Place Above Jason Terry

Luka Doncic has been creating history recently. He passed Jason Terry on Monday night to take second place on the Dallas Mavericks’ all-time total of 3-pointers made.

Monday night’s 127-92 thrashing of the Chicago Bulls by the Dallas Mavericks extended their winning run to three games. Despite Luka Doncic’s 30-point triple-double streak coming to an end, he still recorded his seventh consecutive triple-double and created some team history.

Dallas Mavericks guards Kyrie Irving (2) and Luka Doncic (77) spa hands following a second quarter play against the Minnesota Timberwolves at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, February 13, 2023.

Doncic shot 9–23 from the field and 6–15 in the final 34 minutes to finish with 27 points, 12 rebounds, and 14 assists.

With his fourth made three, Doncic moved up to the second spot on Dallas’ all-time 3-pointers made chart, surpassing Mavs great Jason Terry. Doncic is currently 839 points short of Dirk Nowitzki’s franchise record of 1,143 made threes in his career.

Doncic is averaging a league-high 34.6 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 9.9 assists with 17 games left in the season. He is also shooting 49.5 percent from the field and 38.0 percent from outside the arc. With a 37-28 record so far this season, the Mavs are getting closer to the sixth-seed in the Western Conference rankings. Doncic may have a serious shot to earn his first league MVP title if Dallas can escape the Play-In Tournament.

Doncic declared on Saturday evening:

“It’s my best season for sure,”  “But I’ve still got a lot to improve. … [The triple-double streak is] good, as long as we get the win. We got two wins now in a row, so we’ve got to keep going like that.”
