Quarterback Russell Wilson was a free agent when he signed a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Entering his thirteenth season in the NFL, Wilson was traded from the Seattle Seahawks to the Denver Broncos for the previous two seasons.
Russell Wilson and Kenny Pickett seemed to be in a quarterback duel, but Wilson decided he wanted out and was moved to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Wilson is not guaranteed to remain the team’s most doubted starting just because he is now one going into the season. In fact, if Russell performs poorly during training camp, the Steelers may decide to release him, an NFL executive said to ESPN.com.

Wilson told the reporters last week that he intended to continue playing for a maximum of seven more years. This year will mark his 36th birthday. He will play for another team in the hopes of staying in the league that long if he does not perform to the level that the team demands.
