Payton Pritchard, who has averaged 12.9 points over his last seven games, has been leading the Celtics second unit. The Boston Celtics, lacking Giannis Antetokounmpo, prevailed 122-119 over the Milwaukee Bucks in the end.
In the second quarter, Payton Pritchard’s offensive output took off, starting with a crossover on Danilo Gallinari reminiscent of Kyrie Irving. The guard finished with 19 points and six rebounds on 7-11 and 5-8 from three. He scored 13 points in 13 minutes on 5-6 from the field. Pritchard has scored goals in three straight games, including Sunday’s 13-assist game in Washington.
Payton Pritchard’s season so far for Celtics
Pritchard scored three outputs in a row, including a game on Sunday at Washington with 13 assists. He has shot 45 from three and 47.2 percent from the field in 28.7 minutes a game over the past seven games, averaging 12.9 points, five assists, and four rebounds.
Along with Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Derrick White, and Kristaps Porzingis, Pritchard was one of five players to score at least 17, which helped to further assess Boston’s balance.
Pritchard expressed his dissatisfaction with Patrick Beverley’s “too-small” victory celebration after the match. Beverley’s contributions are nothing new to Pritchard. He said,
“It kind of lit a little fire in me,” “Trying to clown one of our teammates, so, definitely took it a little personal.”
“To bring more energy, bring more dog to it,” “I mean, I think that’s what he prides himself on, so try to bring more than him.” “I think it brings the best out of people, the biggest competitors. I feel like that was kind of a playoff game. It had the atmosphere like it, the energy in the building, so, I don’t know, I just was ready for it.”
