According to Shannon Sharpe, LeBron James and Anthony Davis’s Presence Alone Won’t Be Enough to Defeat Nikola Jokic

The Los Angeles Lakers‘ postseason run has started badly as they were defeated 103-114 by the Nuggets in the opening game of the series. Aside from their 8-point advantage in the first quarter, Nikola Jokic and company outperformed the Lakers in every way. Even the LA team’s most ardent supporters are cautious about their chances in the series after their meltdown in Game 1. Chad Johnson and Shannon Sharpe talked about the Lakers’ recent defeat and attempted to analyze the team’s fundamental problems.

LeBron James and Anthony Davis alone, in Unc Sharpe’s opinion, cannot carry the Lakers through this seven-game series.

He stated on the most recent Nightcap episode that if they hope to get revenge on the Nuggets for the Conference Finals sweep they suffered last season, the other three players on the court would also need to make a major contribution. Numerous members of the media community have expressed hope that the Lakers can defeat the Denver team in a thrilling game. Nevertheless, it appears that Unc is able to predict what would occur by the following week.

Throughout the show, Sharpe informed Ochocinco,

“Your big guns are going off…and you’re up three. They can’t play any better.”

Even with AD and LeBron giving it their all, Sharpe thinks the Nuggets still need more. Since LeBron and AD are neutralized by Jokic and Jamal Murray, he proposed that a new matchup be established between the remaining three starters. He declared,

“If you go look at the box score tonight, their three outplayed our three.”

Jokic, Murray, and Aaron Gordon all recorded double-doubles as the Nuggets’ starting five scored in double figures. LeBron was the only other Lakers player with more than 20 points, and only AD (32-14-5) could match that total. Therefore, Sharpe’s argument makes a lot of sense based on the statistics, and the Lakers may want to look into it.
