Multiple accounts claim that during a private party in Sanford, Florida, a 16-year-old guy opened fire at the Cabana Live nightclub, injuring ten people—among them, wide receiver Tank Dell of the Houston Texans. Fortunately, none of the casualties had injuries that could have killed them.
“The incident began as a verbal altercation that escalated, leading to the gunfire,” according to the police. Officers were on their way to Cabana Live to police the area when the incident happened. There had been indications of a sizable throng at the spot.
In a formal statement, the County Sheriff’s Office stated,
‘Upon arrival, Deputies heard multiple gunshots originating from the rear of the establishment, prompting the dispersal of the crowd,’
The incident was discussed by the Houston Texans
Tank Dell suffered injuries and was sent to the hospital, as the Houston Texans also confirmed in a statement that the player was a victim of the incident. His injuries were healed, and he was discharged from the hospital.
In a statement, the Texans stated :
We have been made aware that Tank Dell was a victim of a shooting in Sanford, Fla. last night. He sustained a minor wound but has been released from the hospital and he is in good spirits. We are in contact with him and his family and will provide more updates when appropriate but we ask that you please respect his privacy at this time.
Dell was chosen by the Houston Texans in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, 69th overall. After breaking his fibula against the Broncos, Dell was unable to play for the rest of the season.
The next day, he had surgery to fix his fibula. Dell was one of the best rookies before the accident, with 47 receptions for 709 yards and seven touchdowns.
