Bill Simmons, a well-known sportswriter and critic, recently talked on the Philadelphia 76ers’ future. The 76ers, who were eliminated in the first round of the NBA playoffs, will like to make roster changes before the 2024–2025 NBA season. Paul George was the hot topic of discussion.

Guests Chris Ryan and Rob Mahoney discussed whether the Philadelphia 76ers need another star player like Paul George in the most recent episode of the Bill Simmons Podcast. Even Simmons was unable to understand this move. He said,
“If I’m Paul George, I just stay in LA, and make a ton of money. I’m from LA, you know. I wouldn’t say that there is a sh*t load of pressure on the Clippers players out here, right? Nice weather every day and I have an awesome house.”
Paul George’s decision to leave the Los Angeles Clippers and sign with the Philadelphia 76ers for the upcoming season did not sit well with Bill Simmons. He believed that George had nothing to gain by moving out of Los Angeles.
PG-13 was born and raised in Los Angeles, so there didn’t seem to be any reason for him to move away from home. Furthermore, George can make more money in Los Angeles than he can in Philadelphia.
Paul George shouldn’t join the 76ers, in Bill Simmons’ opinion, because of their fan base. He talked about how the 76ers have one of the worst fan bases in the NBA, and when something goes wrong, they are the first to place the blame on their players.
Simmons further teasingly stated that George would only give up on Los Angeles if there was no more resolution about the Kawhi Leonard scenario. Therefore, he would go up and team up with Joel Embiid, who is just as prone to injuries as Leonard is, in order to be more certain.
Is it time for Paul George to leave Los Angeles?
With the Los Angeles Clippers, Paul George is now in the final year of a four-year, $221 million contract. George has the opportunity to exercise his contract’s player option, stay in Los Angeles, and then look for an extension. Therefore, it doesn’t appear like George would benefit from leaving Los Angeles, especially in light of their most recent season.
The Clippers front staff should keep all of their talents, including Paul George, according to Skip Bayless as well.
With a 51-31 overall record, the Los Angeles Clippers placed fourth in the Western Conference. The squad still has a chance to make a long playoff run in the next seasons, despite being eliminated in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs.
