Dak Prescott Speaks Candidly About His Discussions About a Contract Extension With the Cowboys

Cowboys and Dak Prescott have a lot to discuss and contemplate. CeeDee Lamb, who had a career year in 2023 is also nearing the end of his rookie contract. Given the addition of elite receivers like A.J. Brown and Amon-Ra St. Brown to their contracts this summer, Lamb’s price is rising.

Dak Prescott in action

Dak Prescott, the quarterback, has the most crucial position on the field, but doubts about his ability to win in January have followed him around.

When the season ends, Prescott will again be a free agent, and the Cowboys‘ owner, Jerry Jones, has shown little willingness to pay the record-breaking compensation that Prescott will demand on his next contract. Reporters have been informed by Prescott, nevertheless, that earning the reported $60 million pay is not the top priority on his “to-do” list.

Dak Prescott: Money isn’t everything to me

Prescott told reporters on Wednesday that his contract matters will “take care of itself,” adding that his primary goal for this season is to break Dallas’ 28-year Super Bowl drought. Telling the press that he is “just controlling what he can control,” the 30-year-old is leaving the rest up to agent Todd France. Prescott said,

“Understanding where I am, what my pay means to a team, an organization, I don’t really don’t take things personally,”

Because of his 2-5 career postseason record, many Dallas fans don’t think Prescott is a talented enough signal-caller to take a team all the way to the Super Bowl. However, Jones still believes in the quarterback he selected in the 2016 NFL Draft, a player who led the league in touchdown passes while helping the Cowboys win a division championship the previous season.

The longer the days pass, though, the less likely it is that Prescott will sign a new contract before the season concludes. This raises the prospect that he could become a free agency in the spring of 2025, which would make for an exciting season.
