Following a string of peculiar social media posts and general actions, Ryan Garcia is currently experiencing a busy 2024. However, Eddie Hearn has called for a lifelong ban if it is shown that he has been purposefully using performance-enhancing substances, which may put his boxing career in peril.
The controversy started when Garcia stopped Devin “The Dream” Haney in a match in which the American fighter was repeatedly knocked to the ground by Garcia.

He missed weight to compete for the WBC super-lightweight title, which made it contentious in the first place. Now, however, the discovery that he had ostarine in his system has escalated the controversy even more.
His failure to pass the drug test on April 19 and 20, in addition to the previous occasion, caused a fury towards the 25-year-old. Some even said that his actions might have killed Haney in the ring. In Hearn’s opinion, a ban is appropriate.
In a profound declaration from one of the most important figures in boxing, Hearn, one of the major promoters in the sport, has said:
“He should never be allowed to fight again,” “He entered the ring with performance enhancing drugs in his system, and now he has to prove he didn’t take them intentionally. If he didn’t take them intentionally, I feel really sorry for him and I hope innocence prevails.”
“If he did take them intentionally and he cheated, that’s another story and he should arguably never be able to fight again…You see clips of him with IV drips, it ain’t a good look.”
