In a Hawks Offseason Marred by Uncertainty, Trae Young Praises the Mavericks’ via Social Media

Is it time for the Atlanta Hawks and Trae Young to put their relationship behind them? Young was said to be concerned with the Hawks front office’s recent roster construction. Recently, the perennial All-Star player enjoyed a post on X praising the Mavericks’ management for their wise decisions. Evan Sidery, a sports reporter at Forbes, outlined four factors on X that the Mavs should consider for the title.

Sidery noted highlighted the trade for Kyrie Irving during the 2023 midseason deadline, probably the biggest turning point in the Mavs’ recent history.

Next, he emphasized the choice to select 7’1″ athletic center Dereck Lively II, who has wreaked havoc on outstanding big men like Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns. Another key move that paid off for the Mavs in the postseason was trading for PJ Washington and Daniel Gafford.

NBA Alerts, an X handle, noticed that Young’s official X account liked Sidery’s post, suggesting that he is pleased with the Mavericks front office’s ability to assemble a strong roster around Luka Doncic. It might also mean that he is fed up with the Hawks, who haven’t changed their roster significantly since acquiring two-way player Dejounte Murray in the 2022 summer.

Does Trae Young want to make a move?

Maybe this is Young’s way of informing people that the management of the Hawks is the real culprit and that he has no responsibility for the team’s difficult seasons. Furthermore, since he was traded for Doncic in the 2018 draft, a number of well-known Atlantans have bemoaned the decision for losing out on a “seminal” player.

The 25-year-old may be implying that the 2024 NBA Finalist needs a lot more support system in order to advance farther in the postseason.

The Hawks have generally shown reluctance to part with their young players or draft picks in order to acquire an established league player. Their recent behavior indicates that they are identifying a franchise focal point and planning for the future.
