Opinions on Nikola Jokic‘s selection as this season’s Most Valuable Player have been varied in the NBA community. Shaquille O’Neal is one of the group that wished for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander to win his first MVP award, as he has stated several times. While breaking the news to Jokic, he even said that SGA should have won MVP instead of him. It appears that he is now using social media to further his cause, as he posted an interesting infographic to his Instagram story.
According to the article, Michael Jordan is currently in second position with 10494 MVP points, behind LeBron James who leads the record. The fact that LBJ played six more seasons than Jordan accounts for the enormous difference.
With that exception, Tim Duncan is ranked third, closely followed by Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal. Shaq and Mamba never took home the MVP trophy more than once, but Timmy has two MVPs. O’Neal’s assertion that the Lakers legends were not awarded repeated MVPs even though they were members of an exclusive group is validated by the MVP point total.

He appears to be suggesting, via this image, that although Shai was a worthy contender, the best players don’t always win the championship. The large man has taken this NBA rejection personally. Shannon Sharpe brought up the same problem, but Shaq was not happy.
