Caleb Williams Embraces Bears Community While Subtly Justifying “Packers Suck” Chants

Before the Bears drafted him this year, Caleb Williams was a die-hard cheesehead. Although the 2024 first-overall pick’s passion was primarily focused on Aaron Rodgers, he has already accepted his new team and even joined in on the “Green Bay Sucks” shout on a recent outing with teammates and supporters. But when Caleb addressed the media following Friday’s OTA, it brought back memories of his shenanigans.

Speaking to the press, Caleb made hints that he was “just being himself” because he was eager to “go out” and enjoy himself.

Caleb Williams talks about Bears community

Caleb stated that all he wanted was to be a part of the community when the reporter inquired about his experience with the fans, bringing up the chanting event at Old Crow Smokehouse. He clarified that, at the end of the day, he is simply a human in regards to the shenanigans. He said,

“Be myself. That’s how I go about everything,”“And enjoy. Obviously, I said in a bunch of interviews that I am going to be a part of the community, be out there enjoy, and let everybody see you, just another human. So just being out there, being a part of the community, like I said, and supporting them.”

Caleb does seem to want to fit in with the community, as evidenced by his comments that he wants to be treated like any other fan. Meanwhile, this year’s matchup between Jordan Love and Caleb Williams will heighten the interest in the century-old Bears vs. Packers rivalry.

Commencing in 1921, the Bears and the Packers have one of the most illustrious and long-standing rivalries in American professional sports history.

In their 208 previous meetings, the NFC rival Bears have prevailed 95 times while the Packers have won 107. Williams did, however, talk about the Bears supporters and their new offense even if he did not disclose any other details regarding the Packers rivalry.
