Dak Prescott, the quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, has recently filed a lawsuit against a woman who accused him of sexual assault. Prescott claims that this accusation is part of a $100 million extortion scheme. According to Prescott’s lawsuit, the woman, Victoria Shores, alleged that he sexually assaulted her in February 2017, just after his rookie season. Prescott asserts that Shores threatened to go public with these allegations unless he paid her $100 million (Heavy.com) (TMZ) (Peoplemag).
Prescott’s lawsuit includes claims of defamation, slander, civil extortion, and more against Shores and her attorneys. He maintains that any interactions with Shores were consensual and that these false allegations are an attempt to tarnish his reputation and extort money from him. Prescott has also reported Shores’ actions to the authorities and has pledged to donate any damages won in the lawsuit to organizations supporting survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence (Heavy.com) (TMZ).
The woman and her legal team, on the other hand, stand by her claims, stating that she has suffered significant trauma from the alleged assault and is seeking justice. The situation is ongoing, with both parties maintaining their positions (Peoplemag).
A judge in the case agreed with Prescott’s legal team via TMZ Sports and dismissed the lawsuit that his accuser had filed against him.
A sexual assault lawsuit filed against Dak Prescott earlier this year has just been dismissed.
According to online court records, a Colin County, Texas judge threw out the suit on Wednesday.
The Dallas Cowboys star’s attorney, Levi McCathern, said in a statement to TMZ Sports the judge found that the suit “lacked merit.”
McCathern added a hearing to discuss potential sanctions against Prescott’s accuser, Victoria Shores, has now been slated for mid-September.
“Despite Ms. Shores and her legal team’s relentless efforts to extort money and damage Dak’s reputation,” McCathern said, “justice has consistently prevailed and will continue to do so.”
There has been no comment from Shores’ legal team.
