With just one Super Bowl loss under his belt, Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs has rarely been in the wrong side of history. However, is he correct about Caitlin Clark, given the legendary quarterback’s prediction that she will dominate the WNBA?
Following an exceptional college season with the Iowa Hawkeyes in which she broke both the men’s and women’s records for points scored, Clark was chosen as the first choice in the 2024 Draft, dethroning Pete Maravich as the overall leader after 54 years.
Mahomes is a master at dominating a particular sport. The 28-year-old, who is vying to be the best quarterback on the squad, has three Super Bowl rings, 219 career touchdowns, over 2300 completed passes for over 28000 yards, and just 63 interceptions. What was his opinion of Clark, then?
Mahomes stated of Clark, an Iowa Hawkeye at the time,

“Tremendous person from every time I’ve met with her.
“You can tell she loves the game. She loves playing at Iowa. One of the best college basketball players to ever play and then she’ll go to the WNBA and dominate there as well.”

The 22-year-old has only shot for 30 points or more once with the Indiana Fever because of how difficult it has been for her to adjust to life as a professional basketball player. Players will often group together and get violent in an attempt to stop Clark from using her finest skills.
Throughout her debut season in 2023–24, the guard has averaged 15.6 points per game, 5.1 rebounds per game, and 6.4 assists per game over 11 games. Her best performance came against the Los Angeles Sparks, where she scored 30 points.
Mahomes continued to believe in her ability to improve and forecasted that while she was a college student, she will rule the WNBA.
