The comedian Jerry Seinfeld is trying to get the media to talk about his latest endeavor, the Netflix film “Unfrosted,” which had a lackluster launch in early May.
During his public appearances, he has made a number of inflammatory remarks to attract attention.
Regrettably, some of these remarks have backfired, garnering criticism and bringing unfavorable memories from his past to light. For example, there was outrage when Seinfeld denounced society’s “dominant masculinity” during an interview on the podcast “Honestly with Bari Weiss.”
Seinfeld talked about how much he missed “real men,” including Howard Cosell, Sean Connery, Muhammad Ali, and John F. Kennedy. Seinfeld said,
“I really thought when I was in that era, again, it was [John F. Kennedy], it was Muhammad Ali, it was Sean Connery, Howard Cosell, you could get there. They were real men. But I miss a dominant masculinity. Yes, I understand toxic. Thank you. But still, I like real men,”
Social media users swiftly reminded him that his previous relationship with an adolescent girl was wrong, regardless of his notion of “masculinity,” in response to his statement.
Seinfeld’s Scandalous Romance with a Female High School Student
Shoshanna Lonstein Gruss was reportedly dated by Seinfeld while she was still in high school in the early 1990s.
In May 1993, 38-year-old Seinfeld and 17-year-old Gruss met in Central Park, according to a People magazine article from 1994. According to the account, Seinfeld walked up to her, said hello, and took her phone number before leaving.
Given the large age gap, Seinfeld has faced criticism and controversy for their relationship. In his most recent film, “Unfrosted,” Jerry Seinfeld makes his directing debut. With an ensemble cast that includes Hugh Grant, Melissa McCarthy, Jim Gaffigan, Max Greenfield, and Amy Schumer, the film hasn’t exactly left a lasting impression since it came out.
Instead of igniting public attention with controversial remarks, Seinfeld’s current attempts to do so have overshadowed the promotion of his latest picture with renewed criticism of his prior behavior.
