Despite acknowledging his long tenure in the NFL, star Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs is unsure about when his storied career will come to a conclusion.
At the Chiefs minicamp on Tuesday, Kelce answered questions about his retirement strategy, but he didn’t give a firm response.
Kelce stated to the press:
“I can’t put a specific timeframe on it,”. “I enjoy coming to work every single day. Of course, I recognize there are opportunities beyond football for me. But when I’m here, I feel like a kid again.”
Despite being conscious of his career stage at 34, Kelce is committed to playing for as long as feasible. He said,
“I’m going to keep playing until the wheels fall off. Hopefully, that’s not anytime soon,”
“It’s clear that I’m closer to the end of my career than the beginning. I need to ensure I’m prepared for life after football as well.”
Is Travis Kelce close to retirement?
The previous season, Kelce’s numbers decreased. His 2022 effort of 110 catches for 1,338 yards and 12 touchdowns in 17 games garnered him All-Pro recognition. He only managed 93 receptions for 984 yards and five scores in 15 games.
But over the course of four playoff games, Kelce improved his performance with 32 catches for 355 yards and three touchdowns. His nine receptions in the overtime victory were a highlight of his crucial contributions, which helped the Chiefs win their third Super Bowl in four years and their second straight.
Travis’s life has significantly expanded off the field
Not only is Kelce’s age a source of speculation, but his off-field activities also contribute to it. His relationship with Taylor Swift, his co-hosting of the well-liked “New Heights” podcast alongside his brother Jason, and his multiple commercial appearances have all brought him attention.
The news that Jason Kelce recently announced his retirement from the Philadelphia Eagles after 13 seasons raises even more questions about when Travis would retire.
Travis Kelce is still focused on his football career for the time being, and he has no set retirement date in mind.
