Kwame Brown Calls Bronny James a “Unproven Rookie”

Opinions were divided when Bronny James, a Los Angeles Lakers second-round draft selection, joined the NBA. While some thought he should be in the league, others cited the influence of his father, LeBron James, in his decision. Kwame Brown contributed to the later story from the start before lately developing his ideas.

The presenter of the Kwame Brown Bust Life podcast offered his thoughts on the matter on a recent episode. The 42-year-old called out both Bronny and his father after openly discussing the privilege he had from the beginning.

Kwame Brown’s critique of Bronny James

Brown went on to talk about how he no longer respected the two, saying:

“I can’t respect the fact that this kid [Bronny] has no pressure of being waived…All he has to do is go out there and play and they still are making excuses for him…I thought LeBron [James] mind the game. If you mind the game, then you respect the game and you don’t do s**t like this…That’s the reason why he dropped way off my GOAT list…You don’t make moves like this where a kid in no way shape or form or fashion should be in the league”.

To some extent, the severity was nevertheless justified—especially in light of the circumstances surrounding the draft. Bronny filed for the draft even though his debut season with the USC Trojans was lackluster. The NBA community was startled to learn that a player with an average of 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists was not good enough to be selected.

But James was said to be pulling the strings in the background. This did a disservice to NBA standards and gave the impression that Bronny’s arrival to the Lakers was effortless. Brown was irritated by this dynamic and began to doubt James’ morality and ethics as an all-time great.
