LeBron James called a Warriors free agent, by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. NBA free agency started across the league on Sunday night. Klay Thompson, who has played for the Golden State Warriors his whole career, is one of the most prominent free agents available.

LeBron James called Thompson as soon as free agency opened, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. He said,

“I’m told LeBron James called Klay Thompson right when free agency opened at 6 P.M. Eastern.”

Although James is also a free agent, it is anticipated that he will sign a new contract with Los Angeles. According to Wojnarowski (via ESPN), if they are successful in signing a “impact player,” James would accept a lower salary on his new deal.

Can Klay Thompson and LeBron James combine at Lakers?

Even though he is past his peak, Thompson can still shoot better than others. After completing the previous season with 77 games played, he averaged 17.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game while shooting 43.2% from the field and 38.7% from three-point range.

Thompson would probably fit right in with James and Anthony Davis at the position. The Lakers need his experience in big games and ability to knock down open shots if they want to contend for the 2025 NBA Championship.
