Bill Belichick is unemployed after 50 years as a coach, but he isn’t sitting around; instead, he is attempting his hand at broadcasting. Many people were taken aback by the famed coach’s decision to transition from the sidelines to the booth, including Randy Moss, his former wide receiver.
During a recent conversation with Kay Adams on FanDuel’s “Up and Adams,” Moss was candid about his feelings regarding Belichick’s new position. The former wideout never would have dreamed during his playing career to see his former coach holding a microphone on TV. Even while he acknowledged that “watching him transition to TV is going to be weird,” he has complete faith in Belichick:
“I know the man, I know how funny he is, I know his sense of humor. So I think he’s gonna be great and I can’t wait to watch him.”
Bill Belichick’s TV Stint would be a treat to watch
Moss’ description of the current state of affairs as a “bizarro world,” in which Bill Belichick and Tom Brady work as broadcasters, was spot-on. Who would have guessed that after dominating the game on the field for the better part of this century, these two NFL icons would be covering it?
Still, Moss made some very valid points in his remarks. Although it may seem strange at first to see Belichick as a commentator, consider the depth of information he brings to the table. Belichick has been a head coach for 25 years and has an extensive knowledge of football personnel, history, and tactics.
Fans will be in for a treat if Coach Belichick blends his knowledge with acerbic sarcasm and a sudden sense of humor. As Moss indicated on the broadcast, his alternate career path might in fact provide fans an entirely new viewpoint on the game. Nevertheless, Belichick isn’t finished being a coach just yet.
