If you thought baseball games were just about the action happening on the field, think again. Shohei Ohtani and Teoscar Hernandez recently got a firsthand look at the chaos that can unfold in the stands during a game at Dodger Stadium.
It all started innocently enough – a hot summer day, the crack of the bat, and the smell of popcorn wafting through the air. But as the game heated up between the Red Sox and the Dodgers, so did the tensions in the stands.
The incident began with two women arguing. At one point, a woman in Dodger blue is heard telling the man next to her ‘don’t put your hands on my boyfriend.’
Security was present for much of the argument. Even before the firsts started flying, one guard appeared to eject one woman and a man from Dodger Stadium.
The presumed boyfriend is heard saying ‘bye’ to the other woman in white, believing the argument to be over.
Then the woman in white pours what’s left of her drink on the boyfriend’s shirt. The boyfriend responds by pouring his Michelob Ultra on the woman, leading to a chaotic melee.
Several people are involved in the fight, with the woman in white who instigated the incident having two men throw punches on her behalf.
At least three men on the other side of the argument threw punches as well.
The security guard already on the scene quickly broke up the fight, holding the woman in white and the man in the Dodgers hat back.
‘Back up! Back up!’ the security guard yelled.
More security arrived seconds later to help control the fracas.
From the dugout, Ohtani and Hernandez are fixated on the brawl, with Hernandez shadow boxing because of the fan fight.
The Dodgers won the game over the Red Sox 9-6 in Los Angeles, with Ohtani nearly hitting a home run out of the stadium in the fifth inning.
In the end, the Dodgers emerged victorious, but the real winners of the day were Ohtani and Hernandez, who got a front-row seat to a fan brawl they won’t soon forget. Who knew a trip to the ballpark could be so entertaining?
