Against the Detroit Lions, Is Patrick Mahomes Going To Start?

Patrick Mahomes can’t keep his name out of news. Super Bowl LVIII MVP Patrick Mahomes will start the preseason game at Arrowhead Stadium against the Detroit Lions, which is a huge lift for the Chiefs. The Chiefs head coach Andy Reid stated that the three-time Super Bowl winner will play in the first half.

The Chiefs’ deflated supporters watched their favorite quarterback, who attempted just four passes in the team’s loss to the Jaguars in the last preseason game.

In an interview with reporters, Reid stated that starting quarterback Patrick Mahomes will be used during the first half of the team’s next game on Saturday against the Lions.

Should Patrick Mahomes be protected more ?

Given that coaches aim to keep their marquee players injury-free before to the start of the regular season, Reid’s decision to start Mahomes for the full first half seems surprising. In light of Hollywood Brown’s sternoclavicular injury, which may keep him out of the game for at least six weeks, Reid would prefer that Mahomes avoid any problems during the game.

Before facing the Ravens in the opening week of the regular season, though, the quarterback must also get in some live-action reps. It’s interesting to remember that the Chiefs lost to the Lions to begin their prior campaign.

For the rematch at Arrowhead, the Lions have a different game plan than the Chiefs, who are starting their starters.
