The Chargers, led by head coach Jim Harbaugh, are preparing for their opening game of the season despite a lackluster preseason campaign. Analysts and pundits are taking note of his direct, “no-nonsense” coaching style, and his squad members are definitely embracing his new outlook.
One teammate who respects Harbaugh’s work is Khalil Mack, the outside linebacker. He said that he “loves” because the HC is always forthright in his expectations and never hesitates to offer honest criticism. He revealed inside information about Harbaugh’s nontraditional coaching methods during a news conference:
“Different character man. Different individual, no nonsense…He’ll tell you if you’re not meeting that expectation, and that’s something I love…That’s all you can ask for from a head guy.”
Mack claims that the Chargers head coach is always honest, whether expressing gratitude for the squad or expressing displeasure. The team is getting better because of the HC’s level of one-on-one communication. Furthermore, according to Mack, his straightforward personality makes for an exciting team meeting:
“(You) never know what he going to say when he’s in the front of the whole group of people in the team room but definitely unique and delightful.”
Even while Mack thinks highly of Jim Harbaugh’s style, he understands that not every player on the squad may feel the same way.
