‘Dad’ Is Not Something Bronny Can Call LeBron James on the Court

Will Bronny James refer to LeBron James as “dad” while they play together on the court? was one of the most important concerns that needed to be answered before the upcoming NBA season. And the King himself says no, very much so.

The four-time champion put a stop to rumors about how his working relationship with his rookie teammate, who happens to be his oldest son, and how he will be addressed by him.

LeBron, 39, stated at the next “The Shop” episode on Uninterrupted: “No, he can’t [call me dad],”  “Cannot call me ‘dad’ in the workplace. Once we leave out the private facility and the gates close, I can be ‘dad’ again.” “In the car, if we ride together, at home, I could be ‘dad.’ No, he gotta call me like, ‘2-3’ or ‘Bron.'”

LeBron also quipped that Bronny, who is 19 years old, might nickname him the “G.O.A.T.” if he so chooses. But one thing is certain: issues will arise if Bronny makes the mistake of referring to him as “dad.” He added:

“We cannot be running down the court and he’d be like, ‘Dad, I’m open! Dad, come on!’ No you cannot do that.”

This is the first time the problem has ever arisen because Bron and Bronny are the first father-son team to play together on the same team in NBA history. Lakers fans have a lot to get excited this season.
