Canelo Alvarez Receives Advice From Floyd Mayweather’s Uncle to Hide From His Nephew

After Canelo Alvarez easily defeated Edgar Berlanga on September 14 by unanimous decision, his uncle has advised him to stay away from Floyd Mayweather or risk being defeated once more.

The 34-year-old knocked out the Puerto Rican 117-110, 118-109, and 118-109 in the third round of their fight at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The audience went wild as he down the Puerto Rican with a brutal left-hook in the third round. After stopping Jaime Munguia in May, he went on to retain the WBA, WBC, WBO, and The Ring Super-Middleweight titles. This victory also brought his professional record to 62-2-2. Jeff Mayweather said :

“I mean Canelo’s Canelo,”. “And we’ve seen a little bit of Canelo, [but] not as good as the Canelo we’ve seen in the past.

“Still Canelo [had] a dominant performance,”

Canelo is cautioned to avoid Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Though Money retired in 2017, Floyd Mayweather’s uncle cautioned the Guadalajara man to disregard a rematch of his 2013 loss to his nephew, implying Canelo would be defeated once more.

Canelo Alvarez

The two had trained together for precisely eleven years before Canelo’s fight against Berlanga. Despite the Mexican’s loss by majority decision (114-114, 116-112, 117-112), many thought that the bout did not sufficiently demonstrate Mayweather’s supremacy. Jeff said :

“Yeah, [he has] no chance like he did last time,”. “[He would get] his a** whooped again…” “Just like [it] happened the first time. Floyd is the face of boxing too… Floyd fought in many weight classes, too.”

After defeating Conor McGregor to increase his record to 50-0-0, Mayweather retired from professional boxing in 2017. However, he is still active and has just defeated John Gotti III in a contentious rematch.
