In Week 2, the Dallas Cowboys were humiliated 44-19 by the New Orleans Saints at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Dallas’ chances of winning were slim, as the Saints easily outperformed their defense.
Veteran Cowboys critic Stephen A. Smith immediately expressed his disapproval of Jerry Jones’ squad on his YouTube channel. In typical Smith fashion, he began by outlining the Cowboys’ downfall.
In reference to the Saints’ offensive, he said on “The Stephen A. Smith Show”: “They ran roughshod over the Dallas Cowboys, 44-19,”
Smith was unable to resist bringing up Alvin Kamara’s four touchdown catch and even likened Derek Carr to Joe Montana: “Did you know that Alvin Kamara had four touchdowns? Did you know that Derek Carr played out there like Joe Montana?”
Stephen A. Smith went hard on Cowboys
The fact that Montana was brought up highlighted exactly how vulnerable Dallas’ defense was that particular day and how Carr handled everything like a pro quarterback.

He dug into the core of the Cowboys’ problems and blamed the defense, not Dak Prescott, for any errors that were seen during the game. Smith didn’t find anything wrong with Prescott’s 300 passing yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions.
“I’m not going to hold the interceptions against him because they were bleeding—he was trying to stop the hemorrhaging,” Smith said defending the veteran quarterback’s efforts.
Smith went so far as to nickname the Cowboys in order to highlight how bad the defense was: “I never heard of Allas, Texas. I never knew one existed, but that’s what we’re gonna call it now,” Smith joked. “From now on, we’re going to call them the Allas Cowboys because you take the ‘D’ out of Dallas.”
