Despite the Cowboys’ Playoff Heartbreaks, Tom Brady Defends Dak Prescott

QB Dak Prescott of the Dallas Cowboys has long faced criticism for his postseason performance. But he has NFL Hall of Famer Tom Brady on his side. The former quarterback defended Prescott on “FOX NFL Sunday,” praising his leadership and work ethic:

“He’s got a great work ethic. I think he sets the tone every single day in practice. And I think that’s what you ask of your quarterback.”

Brady compared Elway to the former quarterback, pointing out that the latter was heavily criticized for his early-season problems in the playoffs before going on to win two Super Bowls in 1998 and 1999, his final two seasons in the league: “People thought that way of John Elway until he won back-to-back Super Bowls…He’s a terrific player. The team’s counting on him. If you’re a real competitor, you want that pressure on yourself. You’re the quarterback, you’re the leader.”

Prescott’s 2-5 postseason record has drawn a lot of criticism, raising further doubts about his ability to take Dallas to the Super Bowl and snap the franchise’s championship drought. Brady, at least, has hope.

The onus is on Prescott to perform when it counts most since the Cowboys have finally signed the largest-ever four-year, $240 million contract with the quarterback. Ultimately, Prescott need to have the drive to go all in and demonstrate that the Cowboys’ choice was the right one if they are spending so much money on it.
