Justin Fields Responds to the Viral Off-Season Video

Earlier this year, Justin Fields accidentally set the internet on fire by using a harmless video to start speculations of a return to Atlanta. Fields was beaming throughout it and joyfully bouncing around the space. But the timing of the video—it came out right before the quarterback was said to be entering free agency—was what really went viral. Fields has finally cleared the air regarding it seven months later.

Fields disclosed that the goal of the film was not to send a subliminal message during his most recent appearance on “Not Just Football.” Actually, the quarterback only thought it was a joke, imitating the exuberant kickoff routine of high school students. He said :

“It was just making a joke you know… I was emulating how guys on a high school kickoff be like (pumped up) before the game, like jumping and boom, doing a little jump, the high knee jump tuck or whatever. That’s basically what I was emulating.”

Fans surmised that Justin’s apparent happiness stemmed from his alleged trade to the Falcons, given how happy he appeared in the video. But Justin thought this hypothesis was funny, jokingly pointing out that it felt like “it’s a crime to be happy on social media” with hypotheses like this.

Nevertheless, Fields’ unexpected admission that his departure from the Bears wasn’t as shocking as we initially believed was the most intriguing aspect of the conversation.
