During an attempted robbery in downtown San Francisco on Saturday afternoon, 49ers rookie receiver Ricky Pearsall was wounded in the chest. The 49ers stated in a statement that Pearsall is “serious but stable condition” following a chest bullet wound. The statement was made on Saturday night. Chief of Police William Scott of San Francisco Police Department said the suspect, a male 17-year-old from Tracy, California, has been taken into custody.
A block from Union Square in San Francisco, at the intersection of Geary and Grant streets, there was a 911 call at 3:38 p.m. local time, according to the San Francisco Fire Department, reporting gunfire. Not long after, police showed up.
ABC 7 San Francisco reported that Pearsall had visited Union Square after signing autographs at an event center earlier in the afternoon.

District Attorney Brooke Jenkins stated that charges against the suspect—who is a minor—will be decided upon either Tuesday or Wednesday. San Francisco Police Chief William Scott said,
“Thankfully, our hard-working officers made a swift arrest in this case and we will do everything within our power to ensure justice is served,”
Regarding Pearsall, 49ers receiver Deebo Samuel Sr. wrote on social media, “He’s good…Thank god,” and the team expressed its “thoughts and prayers are with Ricky and the entire Pearsall family.”

Pearsall, a University of Florida product, was chosen by the Niners with the No. 31 pick in the NFL draft held in April.
