Terence Crawford, an accomplished boxer known for his impressive record and skill in the ring, has recently made headlines with his bold claim that he will beat Canelo Alvarez in a super match. Crawford, a dominant force in the sport, has never been one to shy away from a challenge and his confidence in his abilities is certainly evident.
The prospect of a match between Crawford and Alvarez, two of the most talented fighters in the sport, is certainly an exciting one for boxing fans. Both fighters have proven themselves time and time again, and a showdown between them would undoubtedly be a must-see event.
Of course, at the moment, it’s a big “if” … as even though Crawford‘s made it clear he wants the scrap — Canelo doesn’t seem so sure.
If you missed it, following his Saturday night victory over Edgar Berlanga — which Crawford actually attended — Canelo said straight up “no comment” when asked about a potential tilt with Bud.
Nonetheless, when we spoke with Crawford on Sunday, the 36-year-old pugilist told us he still really wants to throw hands with Canelo in a ring.
“I feel as if that’s a legacy fight,” he said. “I feel as if this is the biggest fight in boxing today.”
If it does go down, Crawford acknowledges he’ll have some challenges. He said he will certainly have to be aware of Canelo’s size and power. But, he told us, “I’ve been fighting bigger guys my whole life,” and he’s guaranteeing he’d come away with a win.
“Of course I’ll beat him,” the 41-0 star said. “It ain’t no doubt in my mind that I won’t beat anybody that I step in the ring with.”
While Crawford’s assertion may be seen as boastful by some, his track record speaks for itself. With an impressive list of victories under his belt, Crawford has solidified his place as one of the best in the business. Only time will tell if his bravado will translate into success in the ring against Alvarez, but one thing is for certain – this potential matchup has the boxing world buzzing with anticipation.
Crawford is confident that he’s got what it takes to take down Alvarez and become the top dog in boxing but will he be able to back up all this talk? Only time will tell.
