After a protracted hiatus, Tyson Fury is back and quickly reminding the boxing community why he is known as “The Gypsy King.” Five months later, the former heavyweight champion is back with a terrifying warning for Anthony Joshua, his opponent: there is no way out.
It was painful to accept Fury’s unexpected loss to Oleksandr Usyk in May of last year. The British fighter’s goal going into the fight with the Ukrainian was to continue his winning streak of seven fights. Rather, Fury left with a loss via split decision and the end of his reign as WBC champion.
Tyson Fury speaks about Anthony Joshua
Fury has remained relatively quiet, with the exception of brief press appearances and sporadic social media tirades. However, things changed when the former champion opened up about all he had been suppressing for the past few months in a heated interview with TNT Sports.
Fury’s remarks weren’t limited to Usyk; he also made it apparent that Anthony Joshua, his other target, would eventually have to take on Fury in the ring, no matter how long it took.
During the interview, Fury pointed up Joshua’s most recent defeat against Daniel Dubois and made a stern pledge: “It doesn’t matter if he’s lost one fight or 21, he will never escape The Gypsy King,” “He will always have to fight me.” “It doesn’t matter if he’s 49, 42, 55, or 65-we will fight,” “I don’t care if he never wins another fight for 20 years, we will have to fight for the fans of this country.”
Fury warned Joshua that he will pursue him for as long as it takes, demonstrating that he is willing to wait. The prospect of these two British giants facing up is still alluring despite their recent losses.
