Ian Rapoport Explains Why Russell Wilson Can’t Take Justin Fields’ Place Under Mike Tomlin

Pittsburgh lost two straight games after having a perfect start to the season. As a result, Justin Fields, who replaced Russell Wilson as quarterback following his injury, was once again in the spotlight. Many thought Fields may be replaced in week six by the veteran. But Tom Pelissero, NFL Insider, wasn’t one of them.

The former Broncos quarterback will probably be active as Fields’ backup, according to Tomlin’s latest news conference, which provided clarification on Wilson’s comeback. In their analysis of his remarks, Pelissero and Ian Rapoport noted that the Steelers head coach essentially indicated that Justin had earned his spot for week six.

Rapoport thought it wouldn’t be wise to take Fields off the field this week since he has done enough to be considered a starter going forward. That prestige won’t be altered by a few unimpressive performances. He said : ” You can’t take Justin Fields off the field yet. I know the last two games have been a little bumpier, but certainly, he has done more than enough to solidify his job as the starting QB for this game.”

The Steelers are currently ranked second in their division. They have come within three points of victory in their last two games against the Cowboys and the Colts. Additionally, Fields has been able to raise the statistics on his own.

With the caliber of competition this year, his total of 5 touchdowns for 961 yards isn’t awful. Additionally, he has only been intercepted once so far. The team will be put to the test if Fields keeps having trouble. But his status as the starting quarterback is certain if he can resume his winning ways. As Pelissero noted, this would be awful news for Wilson, who is currently in his thirteenth season.
