Kevin Garnett is often discussed in conversations where people admire his versatility and the flare with which he played. The most of the time, KG’s diligent work ethic is overlooked. Therefore, when someone clarifies that KG was among the most committed athletes in the game, it’s always refreshing. Tyus Jones recently gave the NBA veteran the honor he deserves when he appeared on Run It Back.
Garnett was in the final year of his career when the new Suns guard was a rookie in Minnesota. He added that he was blown away by the sight of KG sweating it out in the weight room. The Celtics great was 39 years old at the time. That didn’t stop him from exercising to be the best, though, even at 8:45 AM.
Jones claimed to have been a lifetime fan of KG because he was born and bred in Minnesota. He then had the chance to be his rookie and witnessed firsthand what made the NBA star so unique. Jones said that he used to observe Garnett’s work ethic and gained valuable knowledge from him.

He has several KG anecdotes, despite the fact that they were teammates for only a year. Jones said : “One of my favorite stories is, first day of training camp, I’m a rookie, I’m nervous, they’re telling you, ‘Make sure you’re the first one in the gym.’ So, I think it was an 11 o’clock practice. So, I’m like, I’ll get there at 8:45, 9, to make sure I’m extra early. So, I get off the elevator and I hear music blasting in the weight room. I turn the corner and it’s KG in a full sweat at 8:45 in the morning,”

According to him, KG must have spent at least two hours practicing at that time. That day, Jones gained a valuable lesson. He realized that he would need to improve if a 20-year-old athlete who is certain to be inducted into the Hall of Fame was doing all of that. KG even foresaw Jones’ move to Phoenix earlier this year, demonstrating their mutual love and respect for one another.
