Davante Adams is not happy about his Jets teammates these days. Can you blame him though? It’s one thing to not celebrate after a big play, but it’s a whole other level of disappointment when your teammates lack energy on the field.
This is the NFL, the highest level of football. You should be pumped up and excited every single game. It’s not just about winning, it’s about having fun and enjoying the game. And let’s not forget, that celebrating a great play can give the whole team a boost of energy and confidence.
But for some reason, Adams’ teammates are just not on the same page. Maybe they’re too focused on their performance or maybe they just don’t care enough. Either way, Adams is frustrated.
Davante’s speaking up comes after a 37-15 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night. This is what he had to say;
“It’s not really my personality to see something that’s not right & to just let it go on, regardless of whether it’s from the coaches, players, management, support staff, whoever. Obviously there was a lack of energy & urgency out there, & it was apparent, especially coming from the fact that I’ve played on teams that have that winning cultute.
Just basically I just took a moment to let them know. I had reservations about speaking up too early, & being too vocal too early, but in my mind I said f*ck that, because we don’t have time, & I’ve got to do whatever I got to do to help this team move forward. This team being so talented roster wise, it’s just a waste to have everybody out there & have a dead sideline like that. Breece catch a ball & go 60 & we can’t feed off none of that energy.
Those type of plays are supposed to be contagious for the rest of the team, so that’s basically what I saw & what I told them is I’m not here to be the savior. I’m here to help shift this culture more than anything. I’m trying to enforce a winning mindset in these guys. To have only 17 ops & come out flat like that & essentially give away a game. That’s unacceptable. Just trying to bring a different type of swag & culture in here.”
So, let this be a wake-up call to the Jets players. Davante Adams is not happy, and he’s not alone. The whole team needs to step it up, start celebrating, and bring some much-needed energy to the field. Otherwise, it’s going to be a long and disappointing season.
