In what was supposed to be a triumphant showdown against the Indianapolis Colts, Titans’ wide receiver Calvin Ridley was left frustrated, disappointed, and filled with a burning desire to rant. After going through an intense battle on the football field, Ridley couldn’t hide his frustrations following a zero-catch game against the Colts.
Known for his explosive speed, precise route-running, and ability to make jaw-dropping catches, Ridley had high hopes for this matchup. However, nothing seemed to go his way. Whether it was miscommunications with the quarterback, impeccable coverage from the Colts’ defense, or simply bad luck, the star receiver found himself empty-handed at the end of the game.
Ridley was held without a catch on eight targets in Sunday’s 20-17 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, which dropped the Titans to 1-4. The near shutout on the stat sheet – his lone touch was a 9-yard carry – comes after Ridley was held to just two catches for 14 yards on six targets in his previous two games.
Sunday’s game plan, however, proved to be particularly irksome to the pass catcher.
“I need some (targets) in the beginning of the (expletive) game, too,” Ridley told reporters after being asked about his stat line. “(Expletive) is getting crazy for me.
“It is what it is. I sucked today. I gotta be better. But I gotta get the ball a little earlier in the game so I can be in the game and here with the team so I can play well also.”
Though this zero-catch game may have left Calvin Ridley with a bitter taste in his mouth, it has only ignited a fire within him. He remains committed to the game, determined to remind the world why he is known as one of the premier wide receivers in the league.
