In a stunning comeback to power early Wednesday, Donald Trump is set to become the 47th president of the United States. The 78-year-old former president seemed to achieve a solid Electoral College victory.
Strong backing from working-class and rural communities helped him. This as well as an unanticipated rise in support from other minority groups, contributed to his win. He said : “There’s never been anything like this in this country, and maybe beyond,”.
“We’re going to help our country heal and it needs help very badly. We’re going to fix our borders. Fix everything about our country.”
Significant victories for the Republican Party, were also won that evening. Final figures are anticipated in the next several days, but the House of Representatives outcomes were still too close to call.
Donald Trump made reference to the attempted assassination
Trump reflected on the recent assassination attempts on him. He referred to the difficult events of the summer during his speech, implying that these events strengthened his faith in a greater cause.
He highlighted a new vision for the country. Trump promised to concentrate on building unity and minimizing political divisions in his next term. Trump said : “The task before us will not be easy, but I will bring every ounce of energy, spirit and fight that I have in my soul to the job entrusted to me.”
“It’s time to put the divisions of the past four years behind us. It’s time to unite and we’re going to try. We have to try and it’s going to happen. Success will bring us together.”
