Charles Barkley is still well-known in his 60s thanks to his illustrious NBA career, which was inducted into the Hall of Fame, and his more than two decades as a commentator. These are arguably Barkley’s two greatest career accomplishments. But he was just “the guy from Space Jam” to his future son-in-law.
Ilya Hoffman, the creator of DemandByte, discussed meeting Chuck’s daughter Christiana Barkley for the first time in an interview with The New York Times in March 2021. He found out she was the NBA legend’s daughter just before their first encounter.

Since Chuck is one of the most well-liked and well-known celebrities in the nation, most people would freak out, but Hoffman’s response was out of the ordinary. The 1996 film Space Jam served as his sole inspiration for the Round Mound of Rebound. In the Michael Jordan film, Chuck portrayed himself.
Hoffman stated. The inventor of DemandByte was captivated by Christiana, but he later realized that most individuals would have responded quite differently. He stated:
“I said, ‘Oh, you mean the guy from ‘Space Jam’? That’s where I knew him from,”
“Some people might have been like, ‘Oh my god, Charles Barkley.’ To me, it was like, ‘Look at this amazing girl.’”
“I’m not a sports fan…I don’t watch sports. I don’t play sports.”
He could only identify Chuck from his appearance in Space Jam, which made sense. Given that he has appeared in a number of TV shows, including Suits and Modern Family, it will be intriguing to hear his thoughts on his father-in-law’s body of work in front of the camera.
