“I Love You, Mama,” the Teen Murder Suspect Sean Simpson Sobs in Court

Zaquavious Dawkins’s family met the 16-year-old who is accused of killing him for the first time. “(It’s) affecting everybody,” adds Eveleana Dawkins, Dawkins’ grandma. even the community in which he resides.

Sean Simpson, 16, was charged by police with first-degree murder after they claimed he shot and killed Dawkins on Sunday. Dawkins was picking up things for his mother, who has a disability when he was strolling to a business on North Chester Street. According to Denise Wilson, Dawkins’ aunt: “He was sweet. He was kind. He would do anything for anybody. I mean, all you have to do is just say, ‘Tank, will you go do this? Yes, ma’am. Yes, sir.’”

According to family relatives, the two had a fight last year that they believed was over. Wilson claims: “For him to not be here today, we’re all heartbroken. We’re heartbroken.”  “(You’re) out here doing doing big boy things, and this is what’s going to happen. You got to suffer the consequences.”

When the judge assigned Simpson a capital defender during his hearing on Wednesday, Simpson broke down in tears. Simpson sobbed and cried out: “I love you, mama. I love you, mama,”

According to Dawkins’ family, this serves as a heartbreaking reminder of the long-lasting effects that juvenile violence may have on a community. Simpson is being jailed without bail and will face an adult trial. On February 18, he is scheduled to return to court.
