Influencer Summer Wheaton Tried to Make Money Off Killing a Man While Drunk Driver

Following a horrific drunk driving accident that claimed a man’s life, Summer Wheaton‘s influencer lifestyle took a dark turn. After departing a star-studded Fourth of July celebration at Nobu in Malibu, the 33-year-old entered a not-guilty plea this week to charges related to the collision.

Authorities claim that when her white Mercedes swerved into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with a Cadillac, she traveled at 81 mph in a 45 mph zone. While his passenger survived with injuries, the driver, Martin Okeke, 44, was slain.

After being charged with DUI, gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, and causing great bodily injury, Wheaton remained silent on social media following the collision.

Despite her attorney’s objections, the judge mandated that she wear a SCRAM alcohol-monitoring device for 48 hours. She is scheduled to return to court on April 30 and is now free on $230,000 bail.

Wheaton, who describes herself online as a ‘wellness advocate’, has come under fire for turning the tragedy into a money-spinning venture.

Despite initially suspending her social media account, she has since taken to Instagram again to post a self-serving video where she talked about her ‘hard’ times in recent months.

During the clip, she hawked $35 ‘faith-based’ Template to Life organizational planners and reassured her followers that ‘beautiful things can bloom out of despair’.
