According to a TMZ report, Toni Braxton and Birdman have been secretly married for eight months, but their honeymoon was brief.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the 57-year-old singer and the 56-year-old rapper got married on August 8, 2024. Just two days after saying “I do,” Braxton filed for divorce two weeks later, stating that their date of separation was August 10, 2024, in divorce docs that TMZ first obtained.
According to the filings, the couple is only recognized by their initials, “T.B.” for Toni Braxton and “B.W.” for Bryan Christopher Williams. Braxton and her lawyer described the marriage as “irretrievably broken.”
Birdman approved the divorce petition, but Braxton dismissed it five months later in January.
When Braxton discovered a powerful support system in the hip-hop musician throughout her fight with lupus, the two began dating in 2016. The R&B singer told PEOPLE in 2018 that she never thought her friendship with her “bestie for like 15 or 16 years” would develop into something more, even after two years of dating. She remarked, “I never imagined we would be dating or getting married.”
Braxton denied rumors of a marriage on December 31, 2023, and stated that they were both unmarried.
In response to fan rumors that she and Birdman were wed in a secret ceremony, Braxton wrote, “#FAKENEWS,” over a screen grab of a news article that included pictures of the couple.
