A heated exchange between a white landlord and her Black renter is the source of the most recent Karen outburst making the rounds on social media. The video doesn’t even adequately capture the woman’s embarrassing actions.
Vontese Wines says CBS News that the video was the last straw in a series of troubling actions from Lisa Anderson, her landlord. According to Wines, she agreed to certain strict stipulations when she rented a townhouse in Aurora, Colorado, from Anderson in November 2024. They included a $110 late fee and rent payments that were due at noon on the first of the month.
Steven Flaxman, a landlord-tenant lawyer, told CBS that late fees are only permitted by state law after the seventh day of the month. Wines mentioned that Anderson would send her a message prior to her rent due date, urging her to make an early payment, which she frequently did.
