Sherrone Moore Sentenced to Probation For Paige Shiver Affair

Former University of Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore was sentenced Tuesday to 18 months of probation after pleading no contest to misdemeanor charges stemming from a confrontation at the home of a woman with whom he had an affair.

Washtenaw County District Court Judge J. Cedric Simpson imposed the sentence, which includes more than $1,000 in fines and 180 days of suspended jail time. Moore was credited with three days served and will not serve additional jail time if he complies with probation terms. Those terms require him to remain drug- and alcohol-free with random testing, prohibit firearm possession and bar any direct or indirect contact with the victim, including references on social media or in interviews.

Moore, 40, pleaded no contest in March to malicious use of a telecommunications device in a domestic relationship and trespassing. In exchange, prosecutors dropped more serious charges, including felony third-degree home invasion, stalking and breaking and entering.

The case dates to Dec. 10, 2025, when Moore was fired by Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel after the university learned of his roughly two-year relationship with his executive assistant, Paige Shiver. Later that day, Moore went to Shiver’s apartment in Ann Arbor, leading to his arrest, authorities said.

Moore’s attorney, Ellen Michaels, said after the plea hearing that the resolution was in everyone’s best interest. Moore’s wife, Kelli, attended the sentencing hearing and supported him in court. Simpson praised her for standing by her husband.

“You sir, take her for granted,” the judge told Moore, according to accounts from the courtroom.

Moore had no prior criminal record. Legal experts had predicted probation as the likely outcome for the misdemeanors, which carried maximum penalties of six months in jail and 30 days, respectively.
